Verbatim Introduces Slim External SSD

Verbatim, manufacturer of various storage media and flash memory products, has unveiled three new ultra-portable and slim external SSDs, expanding its Store n Go product portfolio.

Available in 32Gb, 64Gb and 128Gb capacities, they are encased in stylish aluminum enclosures and feature a USB 3.0 interface, delivering data transfer rates up to 190Mb/s (read) and 175Mb/s (write) (for 128Gb model). They are now available from major retailers and e-tailers at MSRPs of €99 (32Gb), €159 (64Gb) and €279 (128Gb).

Samsung loses second German patent case against Apple

Samsung has lost a second case in Germany that alleged Apple infringed one of of its mobile patents.

The Korean electronics giant revealed that the court did not believe Apple devices employed its technology without a licence, a ruling that will have Apple executives breathing a sigh of relief given the possibility of a sales ban.The decision dashes hopes that Samsung could possibly use a victory in Germany to bargain with Apple to get its cases dropped or reversed, but the battle is far from over, as Samsung is awaiting a decision on a third patent that it claims Apple is infringing.This is the latest ruling in a bitter battle between the two technology firms over alleged copying, which many see as competition brought to an unsavoury and somewhat petty level. Each verdict is being watched closely as the rivals build a tally against each other.Samsung previously lost its case on the first applicable patent in Germany and a French court refused Samsungs bid to have the iPhone 4S banned. Apple has also lost several cases, including one in the US and, more recently, another in the Netherlands.A verdict on the third and final Samsung patent is expected on 2 March.Source: Reuters
